DBM Community Outreach & Holiday Giving Initiative

The tree is up, the lights are lit, and the elf is on the shelf. For many of us that are fortunate enough to celebrate the season with decorations, parties, and extravagant gifts, we sometimes forget that the season of giving may be harder on families that are less fortunate.

This holiday season, we wanted to do more than just spread holiday cheer around the office by coming together to give back to our community. DBMG has partnered up with South County Outreach’s Food Pantry and Adopt-A-Family programs, as well as Laura’s House, a resource center for victims of domestic violence.

The South County Outreach’s Food Pantry program brings communities together to help fight hunger and homelessness by feeding more than 50 families in need of produce, proteins, and non-perishables every day. Over the span of two weeks, DBMG, along with the help from others in our office building, were able to collect and donate over 500 food and toiletry items in time for the Thanksgiving Holiday.

During the month of December, DBMG collectively donated to South County Outreach’s Adopt-A-Family program to make the holidays a little bit brighter for those in need. After meeting with our adopted family, we learned that we shared the same love for watching Christmas movies and opening presents at midnight on Christmas Eve. We wanted to give them a Christmas to remember with presents to open, meals to enjoy around the table together, and enough left over to make a sizable financial donation as well.

Our original goal was to support one charity but due to the generous outpour of donations and the spirit of giving back from our employees, we were able to raise enough money to not only sponsor a family, but match our donation and contribute to Laura’s House. Laura’s House provides domestic violence-related services to the 915,000 residents of Orange County, CA and beyond. Over the past 24 years, Laura’s House has provided shelter and supportive services to more than 5,000 abused women, men, and children, as well as counseling, life skills education, and legal advocacy to over 55,000 individuals.

Happy Holidays from all of us at DBMG – and remember to give back if and when you can.
